I do not come from a country where fall is a big deal. I have learned about the beauty and wonder of the seasons after moving away. One of the most significant memories was the time I saw the leaves falling from the trees and covering the streets with purple, orange and brown shades. I must say that autumn is special.
More often that not, it is the season where we realize the year is almost over. Therefore, it leads to introspection time. I treasure introspection. It is not hard nor boring to me. It is the perfect moment to wonder: “Am I where I want to be…?”
The only constant in change – Haraclitus –
Change
And, after asking myself that question I am also faced with the fact that change is constant… those three words, have already been spoken and written by many before me.
I think many of us have a love-hate relationship with change. I know I do. Certainly when things are going poorly for us, we can take solace in the fact that, no matter what, things are not going to stay the same. They might get better or they might get worse, but they will change.
On the other hand, when everything seems to be working out we just want things and moment to remain how they are, like frozen.
Every single one of us face changes every day. Change affects us all and we each deal with change differently. This only constant in life, the only thing we can be sure will happen.
To expect change has brought me hope during challenging or unexpected life events.
This same thought has also brought fear in situations where the last thing I wanted was change.
I’ve come to realize it’s not the circumstances or the changes that dictate how my life will go, but rather how I handle them. No matter the change we experience, how we embrace that change will forever impact how we are able to live with the change.
Some autumn reminders
Thinking about autumn can bring about some pleasant thoughts. And while there are no shortage of those, the symbolic meanings of autumn are profound.
One of the first things to take into consideration is that the word autumn comes from the ancient Etruscan. The Etruscans lived in ancient Italy.
As a matter of fact, ancient cultures, science, and astrology have associated many aspects of this beautiful season to human life.
These symbolic associations are powerful reminders that Mother Nature has an incredible influence on our lives.
Autumn reminds us that our bodies, minds, and surroundings are always developing. It focuses on the impermanence of life, emphasizing how vital it is to embrace the present. By doing so, we can savour what we have before it is gone.
Autumn brings us the transition into the cold, dark and desolate winter months. The natural world puts on a final flurry of amazing activity before slowing down.
About October
October has a magic of its own. It is the tenth month of the year in both the Julian and Gregorian Calendars. October is commonly associated with the season of autumn in the Northern hemisphere and with spring in the Southern hemisphere.
There are two birthstones linked with the eight month of the year, they are: tourmaline and opal. Tourmaline is a crystal boron silicate mineral. It is classified as semi – precious stone and it can be found in different colors.
Time will pass by, it will never stop moving and
Our perspective on life has to evolve
Under the microscope of other who are always
Reminding us of previous mistakes and
Many new possibilities for growth, change and love.
All the colors of the rainbow shine with in our souls and reflect like crystals the
Love that makes us tick
In unimaginable ways and allows people who
Need support, a helping hand or a shoulder to cry on
Emotional support whilst redeeming al beings.
Opal is a hydrated amorphous form of silica. There are two broad classes of opal: precious and common. Precious opal displays play-of-color (iridescence), common opal does not.
Ordinary days are never close
Pleasure is in every corner and it comes out with every breath
Alternating truth with many
Lullabies that linger.
Many fascinating things take place during this period of the year. It sort of encourages you to relax and find your inner kid again.
Maybe finding the inner kid means going wild with horror movies or taking a weekend away to enjoy the wonders of nature. As we all know or have learned, October is all about enjoying the beauty of the last days before the holiday season planning begins.
This is the season of mists. With leaves turning golden, nights drawing in and fires being lit, autumn is the perfect time to settle down in a comfy chair with some poetry for company. Autumn loves the clarity that change might bring to the table, it is a redeemer of all beings. It is the moment to celebrate the shift from green to gray. Without much hesitation, during autumn poigance is added to decay resulting in a possible death.
Filled with such outrageous beauty, even as death and many roads come to a halering end. Leaves lie battered and blind.
There are shaking twigs that dance till eve. That is the perfect example of mystery. Thanks to the changing nature of life, each and every day presents us with new mysteries. The crisp fall air and changing leaves personify these unknowns. And once we accept those unknowns, we have more capacity to live life to the fullest. After all, it’s quite comforting to realize that we are all in the same boat facing the same sea of mystery.
The beautiful changes
The beautiful changes as a forest is transformed as the leaves change color, fall to the ground, and make a beautiful, crunchy blanket to walk across.
Every year, nature puts on the ultimate show as the leaves change color and we are witness of how the birds have flown to the south as we wait for an unforgiving winter.
That is why we crave protection and comfort. This season is prime time for seeking comfort in the midst of dropping temperatures. Creating a serene and snug space is one of the best perks of autumn, after all. It also gives you a chance to learn about what makes you feel warm and safe.
The October wind touches our hair and skin with frosty fingers. The sun that has not yet woken crawls slowly into position and soon enough we will immerse ourselves into cold shadows.
When autumn comes, we are sure that summer is over and all the summer flowers and summer’s stunning afternoons will be gone.
Across the land there is a faint blue veil of mist and once again, like every year, the woods are sober and silent.
Another amazing aspect is that day and night are the same length during the autumnal equinox. As a result, ancient cultures have always associated this day with the concept of balance. The sun also enters Libra, which is symbolized by a pair of balanced scales. Autumn grants us a chance to harmonize with the Earth and tap into the balance within us.
For many folks, romance is part of the many attractions this fall month has to offer. As a matter of fact, October is apple picking season. There’s something romantic about spending a day in the orchard with your sweetheart.Weather is getting colder. Your mornings and evenings are made of warm shirts, hot drinks and cozy mood. To me, autumn means more intimacy as a couple, as a family and also alone.
Others, want to spend their nights under ste stars and near a bonfire. So, grab some marshmallows, sticks, coffee, and your best pals and just have fun. Those cool October nights are ideal for outdoor gatherings around a crackling fire.
October folks
On another note, have you ever wondered if our nature and other characteristics get affected by the month we are born in? Well, there are many believers of the fact that one’s behaviour and other personality traits greatly depends on the month they are born.
People born in this month are die-hard romantics. Whenever they fall in love, they love with all their heart and soul. They have an unmatched charm that can mesmerise anyone, and for this very reason, these people are very good at winning the hearts of people. People form this season are peaceful and calm people who like to contain their emotions and feelings inside them. They are very perseverant, and whatever they undertake or start, they will finish to the best of their ability. No matter how difficult a task or job is, they will try their hundred per cent to solve the issue and find a solution for it.
So, all in all what can we say…. people are creatures of habit. Both in personal and professional life they tend to follow the same flow everyday. Since change is the only constant we should try to embrace it.
I have taken my time, and as it has passed i have come to the realization that we can never return to where we were because everything changes.
In the autumn, nature slows down it’s rhythm and prepares the way for the silent lethargy of winter. The idea is to plan a time of soft and beautiful beauty with a very special melancholic touch.
And it is that etymologically the word Autumn means “The fullness of the year“, understanding that fullness as a symbol of maturity. Represents the period in which the crops bloom, allowing to collect the harvest.
Echoes of departure keep resounding in the air. This is the month of pumpkins, falling leaves, many dancing scarecrows and the twirling breeze. Winds have stripped all trees there are colors everywhere. An everlasting array of stunning colors which are on display, greens are turning to oranges and reds and it feels like there is so much to look at.
