About us

Solkes Magazine was founded in 2014 by Laura Viera Abadía, a Colombian journalist who lives in Germany since 2010. After writing for other publications she decided to start her own project, to create a space were her favorite subject matters could be developed without censorship. The magazine is bilingual in nature, given that its founder is bilingual as well (English and Spanish).

The idea behind this project was to create a space were people from all over the world had the opportunity to read interesting pieces; articles that fed the interest of people of every latitude.

Having this in mind, the Solkes editorial team is made up of people who live in different places, with different cultural backgrounds and from different nationalities. This is very important because the fact the editorial team is made up of all sorts of people gives us the opportunity to have all points of view.

Furthermore, it is important to understand that Independent Journalism and Photography are our core. We need to see and present the World through different scopes.

We are a platform for the arts, comics, photography, fashion, analysis and the environment. In order to achieve this, the magazine has six main sections.

Our Slogan is simple but direct to the point: WE ARE WHAT WE WRITE!
