A new Leaf

As I remembered when I was leaving my house I didn’t stop to think that this would be a great and monumental change. I didn’t realize it was one of the many fresh starts we make in life. As a matter of fact, then there will be jobs, new relationships, and maybe career changes.

A few years have passed and looking at the past events I am sure that a new leaf was and will always be a must for everyone at one point or another.

So, I pulled together my thoughts, grabed some tissue, and I reminded myself of the great advice I’ve heard over the years.

So many people dream of moving to a new city, but not that many actually do it. The reason is simple: moving is scary, and the idea of starting over somewhere far away can be enough to make someone stay put.

Being forced to move somewhere may not be as exciting as moving somewhere just because you want to. Truthfully, its very different to move because we want it as a goal rather than an obligation. But in either situation, moving to a new city should be viewed as an exciting opportunity.

Someday in your life, you will have an experience where you visit a city and love it so much that it will feel weird going home. This happened to me as I was living in Madrid and visited Berlin during a trepid winter. I fell in love with the German capital during a blizzard.

Think about it. So many people spend their whole lives in a few square miles of land, they never leave or venture elsewhere.

But, in total honesty, moving can be frightening and overpowering. However, with time the new place will feel like home. Starting over can be the best thing you can do when you really feel that you’re not getting what you want or need out of life.

The truth is, we’re all afraid of change because it’s unknown. So, The first step is to control your fear. Change is a risk we need to take to better ourselves and our lives.

Before letting go of the past its necessary to understand what and why you’re letting go. Remember the past, think about your mistakes, learn from the experience, get rid of the bad memories and keep the good ones.

Another important step is to know exactly where you stand in life. Be clear about who you are and where you stand. Be clear about what you really want. Then and only then, you’ll see things clearly. By this we mean: Who are you? What are you doing right now? What are your dreams, goals, and hopes?

The fact of the matter is that sometimes people need a break. Sometimes, life just needs to stop. In as much as you can actually do this.

In different moments changes will be needed and the will come in different ways and degrees.

Another thing is that when you need to change everything about your situation and to completely start over in life you need to make some major adjustments. You need to think like a new person, act like a new person, dress like a new person, and surround yourself with new people.

Moving is not easy; adjusting to a new city can be difficult and painful. However, it’s also a chance to build your own life and make it even better than it was before. It’s not going to happen immediately, but just know that the journey itself is actually quite wonderful.

People live for a long period of time. And who wants to spend it all experiencing the same things in the same town over and over until the end of their days? There are so many things to experience and eat and talk about that are beyond where you’re living now, and if you want to be a part of it, there’s no better time to go than right now.
